The International Women of the Year Award was bestowed upon Shallu Jindal during the Swadeshi Mela Indian American Trade Fair, a collaborative effort by the DTribals Foundation and the Consulate General of India in Chicago. This recognition celebrated Jindal’s tireless work in uplifting rural and tribal communities not only in states like Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand but also beyond India’s borders. Somnath Ghosh, the Indian Consul General in Chicago, graced the event’s opening ceremony as the chief guest.
Expressing her gratitude, Jindal reiterated her commitment to enhancing the lives of Indian citizens. She acknowledged the honor as a testament to the collective dedication of the Team JSP Foundation. She emphasized their unwavering resolve to continue their diligent efforts to benefit the underprivileged and socially vulnerable people both within India and across the globe.
As the chairperson of the JSP Foundation, Shallu Jindal has been a staunch advocate for a wide array of social causes. These include initiatives focused on quality education, healthcare, skill development, women’s empowerment, and social inclusion. Her impactful work extends not only to Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Jharkhand but also to various parts of India.
Beyond her humanitarian endeavors, Jindal is renowned worldwide as an exceptional Kuchipudi danseuse, contributing significantly to the global appreciation of Indian dance and culture. Her influence also extends to her roles as the chairperson of National Bal Bhavan and the founder president of Young FICCI.
At present, Shallu Jindal serves as the chancellor of OP Jindal University in Chhattisgarh, where she continues to make significant contributions. Her remarkable achievements have garnered her several prestigious awards, including the CSR Times Lifetime Achievement Award, the Golden Peacock Award in London, the Mahatma Gandhi Award, and the Ekalavya Award presented by CMO Asia in Singapore.
