The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) has announced that Prabhakar Raghavan, Chief Technologist at Google, has joined its Board of Directors, marking the first board appointment of 2025. With deep expertise in AI, search algorithms, and digital transformation, Raghavan is expected to play a key role in enhancing US-India tech collaboration.
As Chief Technologist, Raghavan works closely with Google CEO Sundar Pichai to uphold the company’s culture of technical excellence. A renowned expert in Search, he has co-authored two widely used graduate textbooks and holds 20 patents, including pioneering work in web search and link analysis.
Welcoming Raghavan, Dr. Mukesh Aghi, President & CEO of USISPF, highlighted the growing synergy between AI, digital trade, and next-generation defense technology in US-India relations. He emphasized Google’s ongoing investments in India, such as cloud regions in Mumbai and Delhi, reinforcing the country’s digital infrastructure.
John Chambers, Chairman of USISPF, also praised Raghavan’s appointment, stressing that AI collaboration between the two nations is vital. Quoting PM Narendra Modi’s 2023 statement, he reiterated that AI represents not just artificial intelligence but also “America and India” leading the global tech transition together.
Expressing his gratitude, Raghavan stated: “India is uniquely positioned in the global tech landscape, with innovations like UPI driving digital progress. Google is committed to India’s digital future, and I look forward to strengthening this vital partnership.”
Raghavan joined Google in 2012 and previously led Google’s Knowledge & Information (K&I) division, overseeing Search, Ads, Commerce, Assistant, Geo & Gemini products. Before that, he led Ads & Commerce, served as VP of Google Cloud Workspace, and founded Yahoo! Labs. His earlier career included roles at IBM Research and as CTO at Verity.
With Raghavan’s addition, USISPF is set to deepen AI cooperation, digital trade initiatives, and cross-sector innovation, reinforcing the strategic tech partnership between the United States and India.
