Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Wednesday, where he took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam—the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. Arriving by boat from Arail Ghat, he was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Dressed in a saffron jacket and blue trackpants, with rudraksh beads in his hands, Modi immersed himself in the spiritual atmosphere, performing the ritual with devotion. After the dip, he participated in an aarti on a floating platform in the river. Wearing a black jacket and a Himachali cap, he offered milk and flowers to the sacred waters.
Following the ritual, the Prime Minister expressed his deep spiritual feeling, saying, “It’s a blessing to be at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The Snan at the Sangam is a sacred moment of divine connection, and like millions of others, I too felt a profound sense of devotion. May Maa Ganga grant peace, wisdom, good health, and harmony to all.”
The Maha Kumbh, which began on January 13 and will continue until February 26, is witnessing an unprecedented turnout. By February 4, more than 380 million pilgrims had already participated in the grand spiritual gathering, with numbers continuing to rise.
Furthering his commitment to improving infrastructure at religious sites, PM Modi had earlier inaugurated 167 development projects in Prayagraj, valued at $660 million.
