Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Bharat Tex 2024, India’s largest global textile event, with a focus on his 5F mantra and a commitment to support the textile industry’s growth.
Addressing the event, PM Modi stressed the importance of his 5F vision—Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign—in advancing the sector’s role in job creation and India’s development.
Highlighting the textiles sector’s significance in addressing key government priorities like employment, agricultural support, youth empowerment, and women’s empowerment, PM Modi urged for a shift towards global market penetration while advocating for environmentally friendly practices.
He emphasized the need for adopting eco-friendly technologies and promoting natural colors in textile production, urging industry players to align with global market preferences, particularly in regions like Africa.
PM Modi lauded the government’s efforts in promoting Khadi within India and abroad, underscoring initiatives to boost textile exports and enhance market access through exhibitions and trade promotions.
He noted significant increases in textile sector outlays and production during the government’s tenure, along with doubled foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows into the sector.
The four-day Bharat Tex event aims to showcase India’s textile prowess, featuring over 3,500 exhibitors, 3,000 buyers from 100 countries, and leading global textile companies.
With an extensive array of exhibits covering various textile segments and pavilions dedicated to sustainability, recycling, handicrafts, and fashion, Bharat Tex seeks to bolster trade, investment, and sustainability in the Indian textiles sector.
Major textile-producing states and government representations are actively participating in the event, which promises to be a significant platform for showcasing India’s textile heritage, capabilities, and future prospects.
