Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm wishes to citizens across the country on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, one of India’s most widely celebrated Hindu festivals. In his message, Modi highlighted the spiritual significance of the festival and expressed hope that the worship of Lord Ganesha would fill people’s lives with renewed strength, optimism and enthusiasm.
Known as Vighnaharta, or the remover of obstacles, Lord Ganesha holds a special place in Indian traditions. Reflecting on this symbolism, the prime minister prayed that divine blessings would help people overcome difficulties and bring positive outcomes to their endeavors. He also linked the festival’s message of hope and perseverance with the country’s broader journey toward development and prosperity.
Modi shared a traditional Sanskrit verse dedicated to Lord Vinayaka, offering a devotional tribute to the deity. The verse portrays Ganesha as a compassionate and powerful divine figure associated with wisdom, protection and liberation. It describes him as the bearer of modakas, a beloved offering associated with the deity, while also invoking his connection with the crescent moon and his role as a protector of the universe.
The prayer further celebrates Ganesha’s ability to defeat evil and remove suffering from the lives of those who seek his blessings. Through the verse, devotees express reverence for the deity as a supreme guide and a force capable of dispelling hardships and bringing spiritual peace.
In his public message, Modi conveyed his wish that Ganesh Chaturthi would become an occasion for people to embrace fresh energy and enthusiasm while seeking the blessings needed to move forward with confidence. His greetings also carried a broader message of collective aspiration, with hopes that individual efforts would succeed and contribute to India’s continued advancement.
The prime minister concluded his message with the traditional festive expression, “Ganpati Bappa Morya,” adding a celebratory note to his greetings. The festival, marked by prayers and elaborate celebrations dedicated to Ganesha, serves as both a religious observance and a cultural expression of faith, community and renewal.
