Union Home Minister Amit Shah characterised Operation Sindoor, a covert military strike carried out at midnight, as a firm countermeasure to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that resulted in the death of 26 people, including 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen. The incident sparked widespread public outrage and called for immediate tactical action.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday morning, Shah lauded the efforts of the armed forces, calling the mission “Bharat’s reply to the heinous killing of our innocent brothers in Pahalgam.” He reaffirmed the Modi administration’s steadfast resolve to eliminate terrorism at its roots.
The operation involved a series of calculated airstrikes aimed at nine terror facilities, including recruitment hubs, training grounds, and logistic support bases spread across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and deep inside Pakistani territory. These were directly linked to the groups responsible for the Pahalgam killings, most notably The Resistance Front, a Lashkar-e-Taiba-backed outfit that publicly claimed responsibility for the attack.
According to official sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stayed in active contact with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and top military commanders throughout the duration of the strikes. The coordination ensured the success of what has now been deemed one of the most strategically significant operations since the 2019 Balakot airstrikes.
A spokesperson from the Indian Army underlined the tactical precision of the mission, stating, “The targets were specifically chosen. Only terror camps involved in planning and executing attacks on India were neutralized.” The operation was framed as a controlled and non-escalatory move, designed to strike at the core of terrorism while avoiding harm to Pakistani civilian or military installations.
In its aftermath, India has reinforced its stance on counter-terrorism, balancing diplomatic channels with military readiness. Operation Sindoor stands as more than just a countermeasure—it sends a firm message that India will respond with decisive force when its sovereignty or the safety of its citizens is at stake.
“Justice is served. Jai Hind,” concluded the Army’s statement.
