Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with Indonesia’s highest civilian distinction, the Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia, during his official visit to Jakarta on Tuesday. The prestigious recognition was presented by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, celebrating the long-standing friendship and growing partnership between the two nations.
Expressing his gratitude, Modi said the award was not a personal achievement but a recognition of the people of India. He described the honor as a symbol of the deep respect, warmth, and goodwill shared between India and Indonesia. Thanking President Prabowo, the Indonesian government, and its citizens, the Prime Minister said the recognition reflected the historic relationship that has connected the two countries for generations.
Established in 1959, the Bintang Adipurna is Indonesia’s highest civilian and military decoration. It is awarded to individuals who have made exceptional contributions and demonstrated extraordinary service. The recognition adds another international honor to the list of global awards conferred on Prime Minister Modi during his tenure.
Apart from the award ceremony, Modi and President Prabowo held extensive bilateral discussions aimed at expanding cooperation across multiple sectors. Their talks focused on strengthening collaboration in defense, security, maritime affairs, trade, agriculture, healthcare, food security, and human resource development.
Highlighting the significance of the meeting, Modi said India and Indonesia have built stronger ties over the past several years, with growing engagement across strategic and economic areas. He noted that as two major maritime nations in the Indo-Pacific region, both countries remain committed to enhancing defense and maritime cooperation while ensuring regional stability.
The leaders also explored opportunities in future-focused sectors, agreeing to deepen collaboration in space technology, telecommunications, artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure, and other emerging technologies. These initiatives are expected to further strengthen bilateral relations and support innovation-driven growth for both countries.
The visit underscores the shared commitment of India and Indonesia to expanding their strategic partnership and building closer cooperation across traditional and emerging sectors. With stronger diplomatic engagement and a common vision for the Indo-Pacific, both nations aim to deepen their relationship and create new opportunities for mutual development in the years ahead.
