Varanasi, July 5 (IANS) – As the sacred month of Sawan approaches, the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi is preparing to welcome a record-breaking 1.5 crore devotees, expected to visit beginning July 11 to seek blessings from Baba Vishwanath.
Last year, the temple witnessed over one crore pilgrims performing Jalabhishek, and this year, the number is projected to rise significantly. To manage the spiritual influx, the temple administration and district authorities have initiated a host of measures for crowd management, safety, and comfort.
Barricading & Facilities:
To ensure smooth darshan, zig-zag barricades, carpeted walkways to protect feet from the heat, and German hangers for sun and rain protection have been installed. Health and refreshment facilities like ORS, glucose, biscuits, jaggery, and first-aid stations are placed at key points.
Special Assistance & Gold Cards:
Special provisions have been made for children, senior citizens, and differently-abled individuals, with the introduction of gold cards to facilitate safe and quick access.
Live Streaming & Digital Experience:
To extend access beyond the temple walls, live broadcasts of Aartis are now available online and across Varanasi via LED screens, in collaboration with the Smart City project. This offers a virtual darshan experience to those unable to attend in person.
Floral Showers & Spiritual Atmosphere:
The temple will continue its traditional flower showers, adding a festive and devotional ambience. As chants of “Har Har Mahadev” echo across the ghats, the spiritual fervour in Kashi is set to reach new heights.
Caution from the Temple CEO:
Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, CEO of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, urged, “This should not become a record-making contest. Those unwell should avoid crowds and take advantage of our live YouTube broadcasts or visit during less crowded days.”
With comprehensive spiritual, digital, and logistical preparations in place, Kashi Vishwanath Temple stands ready for a divine Sawan 2024, uniting millions in faith and devotion.
