Bollywood actress Kajol once revealed that legendary actress Sridevi was one of her biggest inspirations and that she wished she could learn acting from her.
During an appearance on veteran actor Anupam Kher’s chat show, Kajol recalled that Sridevi became her favourite actress as she grew older. She expressed her admiration by saying that she would have loved to be the first student if Sridevi ever opened an acting school.
Kajol praised Sridevi for her remarkable ability to transform herself for every role while maintaining a distinctive presence on screen. She cited films such as Chandni, ChaalBaaz, Sadma, Lamhe and Khuda Gawah as examples of the actress’s versatility.
According to Kajol, Sridevi had the rare ability to bring elements of herself into a character while ensuring that the performance remained completely focused on the role.
Kajol also admired Sridevi’s passion for life and acting, noting that despite her immense success, she continued to display curiosity and enthusiasm for taking on new challenges.
The two actresses, despite being among the most recognised names in Hindi cinema, never had the opportunity to share the screen.
Sridevi passed away on February 24, 2018, at the age of 54. Her performances across several decades continue to be remembered as an important part of Indian cinema’s legacy.
