Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Washington, D.C., for a two-day visit at the invitation of President Donald Trump. Greeted warmly by enthusiastic members of the Indian diaspora outside Blair House, chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Modi, Modi” filled the air as supporters braved the cold to welcome him. The gathering underscored the deep ties between India and the US, as well as the strong backing of Indian-Americans.
Expressing his gratitude on social media platform X, PM Modi acknowledged the warm reception despite the winter chill, emphasizing his appreciation for the diaspora’s support. His visit aims to enhance the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, with a focus on economic growth, global cooperation, and technological advancement.
During his stay, PM Modi will engage in discussions with President Trump, senior US officials, and industry leaders to strengthen collaboration across various sectors, including trade, defense, energy, and supply chain resilience. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted the visit’s significance in advancing bilateral relations and addressing shared global challenges.
Indian-American leaders and Trump supporters expressed enthusiasm for the visit, seeing it as a pivotal moment in India-US diplomacy. Entrepreneur Asha Jadeja described the visit as “unprecedented and impactful,” while Alka Vyas praised PM Modi’s leadership and vision for India’s progress.
PM Modi is staying at Blair House, a historic residence for visiting world leaders. His trip follows ongoing high-level engagements between Indian and US officials, including recent meetings involving External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Ahead of this visit, PM Modi also held talks with US Vice President JD Vance in France, discussing energy security and investment in clean nuclear technology. As India and the US continue to build on their strategic partnership, this visit is expected to further cement their cooperation in key global areas.
