Eighteen-year-old Kiran Reddy has created history by becoming the first Indian American to win the Miss Georgia Teen USA title, marking a significant milestone in the state’s pageant history. The Coffee County teenager, who graduated as a valedictorian from Coffee High School, will now represent Georgia at the Miss Teen USA competition in August.
Reddy said the achievement took time to fully understand, as the moment felt unreal initially. However, she views the title as an opportunity to expand the positive impact she has already been making through years of community involvement.
Before stepping onto the pageant stage, Reddy developed a passion for helping others through her experiences around healthcare. Growing up around her father’s medical practice, she became inspired by the way he cared for patients. That early exposure encouraged her to volunteer at Coffee Regional Medical Center, where she assists in the labor and delivery department.
Her volunteer work sparked an interest in women’s health, and Reddy plans to pursue a career in obstetrics and gynecology. She will begin her studies at the University of Georgia this fall on a pre-med track and hopes to eventually return to Douglas to serve her community. She also aims to provide prenatal care to women internationally in the future.
Beyond healthcare, Reddy has built an impressive record of community service. She has spent time reading with elementary school students, connecting with senior citizens, and organizing a charity pageant that raised $3,000 for Alzheimer’s awareness. She has also encouraged younger girls by sharing her pageant experience and allowing them to try on her crown.
Reddy said service has always been a part of her upbringing, and pageantry simply gave her a larger platform to spread that message. She began competing at age 15 and continued despite earlier setbacks, placing as a runner-up before eventually winning the state title.
The experience also helped her overcome a fear of public speaking and develop confidence. Outside pageantry, Reddy participated in varsity swimming and competitive gymnastics during high school.
As she prepares for the Miss Teen USA competition, Reddy hopes her journey encourages others to step beyond their comfort zones. She believes the true value of the title lies not in the crown itself, but in the opportunity to inspire and support others.
