Ohio’s Republican State Senator Niraj Antani, now running for the state’s open second district, disclosed raising an impressive $612,348 in just 38 days for his Congressional campaign. The fundraising spanned the 4th quarter, beginning with his announcement on November 14 and concluding on December 31. Notably, this substantial amount was achieved without tapping into general election funds or resorting to self-funding. Expressing gratitude to his supporters, Antani, representing Ohio’s sixth senate district, affirmed his commitment to championing the American Dream in Congress.
The announcement follows the retirement of Congressman Brad Wenstrup from Ohio’s 2nd Congressional District on November 8, 2023. Covering 16 counties in southern Ohio, this district boasts a notably Republican-leaning partisan voter index. The Republican primary is set for March 19, 2024.
Campaign manager Nathan VanVlymen declared that Antani’s fundraising achievement positions him in the top tier of the race, expressing confidence in surpassing opponents in both contributions and efforts.
Antani, confirming he won’t seek reelection for the state Senate, plans to complete his term ending on December 31, 2024. Born and raised in southern Ohio, he was the first Ohio General Assembly member to endorse President Trump for the 2024 election. If elected, Antani would become the first Republican Hindu member of Congress, currently serving his first term in the Ohio Senate after three terms in the Ohio House of Representatives.
