Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday commended the Indian Army for the successful execution of ‘Operation Sindoor’, calling it a powerful and resolute action against terrorism. She emphasised that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is firmly committed to pursuing all those responsible for acts of terror.
Posting on social media platform X, Sitharaman wrote, “The ‘Operation Sindoor’ is a strong response by the Indian Army — hitting at the terror hubs in Pakistan. India shall never tolerate terrorism. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, we will ensure every perpetrator of terror is pursued.”
Her statement followed India’s execution of ‘Operation Sindoor’, a high-precision military strike on nine terror infrastructure sites located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). This operation was carried out in direct retaliation to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national.
According to officials, the operation was meticulously planned and executed with surgical accuracy. It was monitored in real time by Prime Minister Modi, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and top-ranking military leaders.
The Indian Army confirmed that nine key targets were struck during the operation. These included camps and logistical hubs used by terrorist groups operating from Pakistan and PoK. The groups had been linked to multiple planned attacks on Indian soil, including the Pahalgam massacre.
An official spokesperson of the Indian Army highlighted the deliberate nature of the mission, stating, “Our actions have been focused and precise. We have only targeted terrorist camps from where attacks against India have been planned and executed.”
Care was taken to ensure that the operation did not result in civilian casualties or damage to Pakistani military installations, thus avoiding further escalation of tensions.
The Army concluded its statement with a message that underscored the symbolic and strategic weight of the mission: “Justice is served. Jai Hind.”
‘Operation Sindoor’ now stands as one of the most significant cross-border counter-terrorism operations undertaken by India since the Balakot airstrikes in 2019, reaffirming the country’s unwavering resolve to combat terrorism with strength, precision, and strategic discipline.
