India’s Trade Facilitation Portal, designed to connect businesses across India and the United States, has attracted approximately 3,500 registrations within a few months of its launch. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the response on October 27, 2026, emphasizing the platform’s potential to help Indian companies enter the American market and develop international business relationships.
In a post on X, Goyal described the initiative as an important step toward bringing businesses from both countries closer together. He said the encouraging registration figures reflected growing interest in a digital platform intended to help exporters identify new commercial opportunities, establish partnerships, and expand their international presence.
The minister particularly emphasized the benefits for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and entrepreneurs exporting internationally for the first time. By providing access to potential American customers and business partners, the portal aims to make exploring overseas markets more accessible to smaller Indian companies.
The digital business-to-business marketplace was established by the Consulate General of India in New York, working alongside other Indian consulates in the United States and the Indian Embassy in Washington, DC. It enables Indian exporters to present their products and business capabilities while allowing US-based buyers to discover Indian offerings across different industries.
The portal includes searchable product categories, dedicated user dashboards, and tools for monitoring business leads, trade activity, sales performance, and engagement. It also features virtual exhibitions and curated product showcases, giving businesses opportunities to present their offerings, connect with prospective partners, and explore sector-specific commercial possibilities.
By bringing exporters and buyers together in one digital environment, the initiative seeks to simplify cross-border business discovery and communication. Its early registration numbers suggest growing participation in a platform intended to support trade engagement between the two countries, with particular relevance for Indian businesses seeking to establish themselves in the US market.
