South Korean President Lee Jae Myung completed his three-day official visit to India with a strong message of deepening bilateral relations, describing India and South Korea as steadfast partners with limitless opportunities for future cooperation. He emphasized that the partnership is evolving beyond traditional diplomacy into a broader framework of shared development and global engagement.
During his visit, Lee expressed admiration for Indian President Droupadi Murmu, highlighting her inspiring journey of overcoming social and personal challenges while dedicating her life to public service. He said her leadership represents India’s rising confidence and global influence. He also conveyed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the Indian government and its people.
A state banquet held at Rashtrapati Bhavan brought together top Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. President Murmu noted that both countries have agreed on an ambitious plan to strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors such as trade, infrastructure, digital technologies, education, research, culture, and people-to-people exchanges, laying a strong foundation for long-term collaboration.
Earlier in the visit, Prime Minister Modi and President Lee held detailed discussions in New Delhi focusing on expanding cooperation in strategic and emerging areas. These included artificial intelligence, semiconductors, energy, shipbuilding, financial services, defense, and other critical technologies. Both sides also discussed regional and global developments of mutual interest, reflecting shared strategic priorities.
The meeting resulted in the signing and exchange of several agreements aimed at boosting economic and technological cooperation. Officials from both nations highlighted that these initiatives are expected to open new opportunities for businesses, strengthen innovation, and deepen engagement between industries and citizens of both countries.
As part of the visit, President Lee and First Lady Kim Hea Kyung paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat, honoring his legacy of peace and non-violence. The visit concluded with ceremonial engagements at Rashtrapati Bhavan, marking a significant step forward in strengthening India South Korea relations and reinforcing their shared vision for the future.
