India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a telephonic discussion with Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, focusing on the evolving situation in West Asia and the safety of the Indian community in the region. The conversation comes at a time of heightened tensions following unsuccessful negotiations between the United States and Iran.
Both leaders reviewed ongoing regional developments and the diplomatic efforts underway to address them. Jaishankar later shared that the exchange was constructive, with a clear emphasis on maintaining stability and ensuring the well-being of Indian nationals residing in Kuwait and nearby regions.
According to Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussion covered recent geopolitical developments and coordinated responses to emerging challenges. The dialogue reflects continued cooperation between India and Kuwait in managing regional concerns through diplomatic channels.
The conversation also follows Jaishankar’s recent two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates, where he engaged with top leadership in Abu Dhabi. During the visit, he met UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and conveyed greetings on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also expressed appreciation for the UAE leadership’s role in safeguarding the Indian community during ongoing regional tensions.
The meeting in Abu Dhabi was attended by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, further highlighting the importance of India’s engagement with key Gulf leaders. Jaishankar acknowledged the UAE’s continued support for Indian nationals and emphasized the strength of the bilateral partnership.
Earlier, he also held discussions with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Their talks focused on the broader implications of the West Asia situation and reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to strengthening their comprehensive strategic partnership.
In addition to high-level meetings, Jaishankar interacted with members of the Indian community in the UAE, reassuring them of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure their safety during the crisis. These engagements underline India’s proactive diplomatic approach in addressing regional challenges while prioritizing the welfare of its citizens abroad.
