India and Greece have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding economic cooperation, with both countries exploring new opportunities in manufacturing, startups, emerging technologies, trade, and investment.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held productive discussions with Greece’s Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakos, focusing on strengthening the India-Greece economic partnership through enhanced trade, industrial collaboration, investment, and resilient supply chains.
The leaders also explored avenues to deepen cooperation in manufacturing, innovation, and emerging technologies, aiming to create long-term economic opportunities and shared prosperity for both nations.
As part of his official visit, Goyal is leading a high-level Indian business delegation to Greece to strengthen commercial ties and encourage greater collaboration between businesses from the two countries. The visit reflects India’s broader strategy of expanding its global economic partnerships and attracting investment across key sectors.
The delegation is participating in presentations and startup pitches at The Athens Startup Business Incubator (THEA), providing Indian and Greek entrepreneurs with opportunities to build innovation-driven partnerships and promote cross-border collaboration in technology and entrepreneurship.
Business leaders from both countries are also taking part in focused roundtable discussions at the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI). The discussions cover priority sectors including infrastructure, digitalisation, defence, food processing, and agriculture, with the objective of identifying new investment opportunities and strengthening private-sector partnerships.
The visit will conclude with interactions involving key business and institutional stakeholders to further enhance industry cooperation and expand bilateral trade and investment linkages.
The Greece visit follows Piyush Goyal’s successful three-day visit to the United Kingdom, where discussions with industry leaders reinforced support for the proposed India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). Together, the two visits highlight India’s continued focus on strengthening global economic partnerships, promoting innovation-led growth, and advancing trade and investment diplomacy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
