During his visit here, Telangana’s Minister for Industries and Information Technology K.T. Rama Rao led an aerospace and defense roundtable with prominent US majors, advisory firms, think tanks, and startups. Hyderabad has emerged as the most preferred investment destination for US aerospace and defense companies, he said.
According to the statement, KTR, as the minister is called, highlighted the phenomenal expansion of the aerospace industry and private sector military investments in Telangana during the previous nine years.
The Financial Times has named Hyderabad as the No. 1 Aerospace city of the ‘Future in Cost Effectiveness’ for 2020–21.
Numerous industrial facilities for US corporations are located in Telangana, including a joint venture between Lockheed Martin and Tata Group that produces and distributes Sikorsky helicopter cabins, C130 J empennages, and F 16 wings. In a similar vein, the complete Apache fuselage, the Chinook aerostructures, including the tail and nose cones, and the vertical stabilizers for the 737 series of aircraft are all produced by the Boeing JV with Tata.
Engine components are produced in Hyderabad by GE. Hyderabad serves as the sole training facility for Pratt & Whitney engines in India. In addition to announcing the first Engine MRO by an OEM in India in Hyderabad, Safran recently opened a facility for the production of aviation engine parts.
Leaders from industry behemoths met with KTR in New York and Washington. The topics of conversation were potential investments and growth strategies.
