Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has begun a weeklong overseas outreach across the United States and Canada, with a focus on attracting international investment and encouraging global businesses to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027.
Patel arrived in San Francisco on August 17 with a state delegation and was welcomed at the airport by members of the Gujarati community. The delegation is scheduled to begin its engagements in the city with a meeting with community representatives before moving on to discussions with business and industry leaders.
The Chief Minister’s August 17-24 tour will cover several major business centers in North America. During the visit, Patel is expected to interact with investors, industry organizations, technology companies and members of the Gujarati diaspora. The discussions will highlight Gujarat’s industrial growth, infrastructure and investment opportunities while seeking greater international participation in the state’s upcoming investment summit.
The delegation will conduct roundtable discussions and individual meetings in San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and New York. The team will then travel to Toronto, Canada, as part of the broader outreach campaign.
A senior group of Gujarat government officials is accompanying Patel, including Chief Secretary M.K. Das, Finance Department Additional Chief Secretary T. Natarajan, Industries and Mines Department Additional Chief Secretary Mamta Verma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjeev Kumar, and Additional Principal Secretary Dr. Vikrant Pandey.
Business representatives are also an important part of the delegation. Senior executives from 22 companies are participating, representing key industries such as manufacturing, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, energy and technology. Their presence is expected to support discussions around partnerships, expansion and potential investments in Gujarat.
The visit has also drawn attention because it is being described as the first official trip to the United States by a sitting Gujarat chief minister in more than 25 years.
Patel’s North American outreach comes as Gujarat prepares for the next Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, scheduled for January 2027. The government is using the international tour to showcase the state’s economic opportunities and build stronger connections with global investors ahead of the summit.
