The award acknowledges his efforts in strengthening the long-standing friendship and strategic partnership between India and Indonesia.

With this latest recognition, Prime Minister Modi’s total number of international honours has reached 35, making it the highest tally received by any Indian Prime Minister. These awards have come from nations across Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas, highlighting his diplomatic engagement and global outreach efforts since 2016.

The Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia, also referred to as the Medal of Honour, is Indonesia’s highest civilian distinction. It is presented to individuals who have made exceptional contributions toward supporting the unity, continuity, and progress of the Indonesian Republic.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the award as a celebration of the deep friendship between India and Indonesia. He said the honour recognized Prime Minister Modi’s leadership in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting cooperation between the two countries. Modi dedicated the recognition to the people of India and the enduring partnership shared by both nations.

Over the years, several of the honours received by Prime Minister Modi have been among the highest state decorations awarded by different countries. These recognitions acknowledge contributions in areas including diplomacy, strategic partnerships, environmental efforts, and global cooperation.

Recently, Seychelles presented Modi with its highest national honour, the Guardian of the Blue Horizon, recognizing his focus on environmental conservation and sustainable development. He dedicated the award to countries and communities working together to address climate change challenges.

Other notable recognitions include Bhutan’s Order of the Druk Gyalpo, Nigeria’s Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, Israel’s Medal of the Knesset, Egypt’s Order of the Nile, the United States’ Legion of Merit, and Russia’s Order of St. Andrew the Apostle.

Several of these prestigious awards have historically been presented to influential global leaders, including Barack Obama, Nelson Mandela, Queen Elizabeth II, Xi Jinping, and Winston Churchill. The event was presented in collaboration with the Manhattan chapter of the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) and the Indian American Kerala Cultural and Civic Center. This year’s theme, “Indian Television – Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,” explored the remarkable transformation of Indian broadcasting while bringing together renowned television professionals, journalists, and members of the Indian American community.

The discussion featured former Doordarshan news anchors Sheila Chaman and Ramu Damodaran, former Indian Ambassador T.P. Sreenivasan, and digital media specialist Sree Sreenivasan. Together, they reflected on the history of Indian television, examined its current challenges, and shared perspectives on how technological advancements are reshaping the future of news and entertainment broadcasting. The program also included an interactive audience session that encouraged conversations on journalism, media ethics, and digital innovation.

Welcoming attendees, Kerala Center President Alex Esthappan expressed pride in hosting both the Dr. Thomas Abraham Library and the Indian Diaspora Center. Dr. Thomas Abraham explained that one of the Center’s primary goals is preserving the achievements, history, and cultural legacy of Indians living across the globe, ensuring future generations remain connected to their heritage.

Because the symposium coincided with the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao, Ramu Damodaran opened the event with a tribute to the late leader. Having previously worked in Rao’s office before joining the United Nations, Damodaran praised the former prime minister for introducing economic reforms while also encouraging greater openness in India’s television industry. He noted that expanding television choices helped create a more diverse media landscape and reflected Rao’s belief in nurturing talent and innovation.

Sheila Chaman introduced her recently released book, Doordarshan Diaries: The Golden Era of Television, which documents the early years of Indian broadcasting through firsthand accounts from former colleagues. She recalled that news presenters frequently wrote or revised their own scripts and relied entirely on memory while presenting because teleprompters were unavailable, making preparation and discipline essential parts of the profession.

Former Ambassador T.P. Sreenivasan spoke about his transition from diplomacy to television, highlighting the impressive rise of regional news channels. Although many started with limited resources, he said they gradually evolved into respected media outlets that demonstrated how quality journalism could succeed beyond large national networks.

During the concluding discussion, panelists voiced concerns about sensationalism becoming increasingly common in television news, arguing that loud debates and dramatic headlines often overshadow balanced reporting. They contrasted this trend with the calmer, more measured journalism that characterized the early Doordarshan era. The event concluded with commemorative presentations featuring rare U.S. Postal Service First Day Covers honoring the founding of GOPIO in 1989, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Kerala Center Vice President Daisy Stephen.

The post Indian Diaspora Center hosts 2026 Indian TV symposium first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Reports across leading publications described the meeting in New Delhi as a significant step toward expanding cooperation in security, economic resilience, defense technology, and regional stability across the Indo-Pacific.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi held extensive discussions covering a broad range of bilateral issues. Their talks focused on strengthening collaboration in key sectors, including supply chain resilience, critical minerals, maritime security, clean energy, and advanced defense capabilities. The summit reflected both countries’ commitment to building a stronger partnership amid evolving geopolitical and economic challenges.

According to The Japan Times, Japan views India as an increasingly important partner as it seeks to diversify supply chains and reduce vulnerabilities created by regional tensions. The report noted that concerns over China’s growing influence, export restrictions on dual-use goods, and pressure on Japanese companies have encouraged Tokyo to deepen economic and strategic engagement with India, whose expanding manufacturing sector and skilled workforce make it an attractive long-term partner.

Kyodo News also highlighted India’s central role in Japan’s vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific. The publication noted that Tokyo continues to strengthen ties with New Delhi as relations between Japan and China remain strained, particularly over trade restrictions and broader regional security concerns.

The two leaders agreed to expand cooperation on economic security by ensuring more reliable access to energy resources and critical minerals. During their approximately 90-minute meeting, they also reached a broad understanding on Japan’s transfer of Unicorn communication antenna technology to India, a move expected to enhance defense collaboration and support India’s domestic manufacturing initiatives.

Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that both governments reaffirmed their commitment to the revised Joint Declaration on Security Cooperation. The agreement includes expanding joint military training in the Indian Ocean, enhancing naval maintenance collaboration, and increasing cooperation on defense equipment and technology under India’s “Make in India” program. Officials were also instructed to organize the next India-Japan “2+2” ministerial dialogue later this year.

Following the formal summit, Prime Minister Modi hosted an informal dinner for Prime Minister Takaichi, where the leaders discussed bilateral relations, global developments, and cultural exchanges in a relaxed setting. Japan’s Prime Minister’s Office described the discussions as warm and constructive, saying they further strengthened the personal trust between the two leaders while reinforcing the long-term strategic partnership between India and Japan.

The post Japan Media Praises India-Japan Summit Success first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

The platform processed more than 22 billion transactions during the month, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 23% and highlighting the continued acceleration of digital payments across the country.

In terms of value, UPI transactions climbed 20% compared to the previous year, crossing $296.92 billion. This growth underscores the increasing reliance of both consumers and businesses on instant, cashless payment systems. On an average day in June, UPI handled around 757 million transactions, demonstrating the scale, speed, and efficiency of India’s digital financial infrastructure.

Officials and industry experts attribute this sustained expansion to broader financial inclusion, improved merchant acceptance, and growing consumer trust in secure digital payment platforms. Small businesses, retail outlets, and service providers across urban and rural regions are increasingly adopting UPI as their preferred payment method, further strengthening the country’s shift toward a cashless economy.

Beyond domestic growth, UPI is also expanding its global reach, reinforcing India’s position as a leader in digital public infrastructure. The system is now operational in more than eight countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, France, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and Greece, among others. This international expansion is helping facilitate faster, more seamless cross-border transactions for Indian users abroad.

A notable development during the period was the launch of a UPI-based remittance service by Eurobank in Greece, allowing direct transfers to India. This initiative is expected to simplify international money transfers while reducing costs and processing times for users.

The global adoption of UPI reflects India’s growing influence in financial technology and its efforts to build interoperable payment systems that can connect multiple economies. By enabling real-time, low-cost transactions across borders, UPI is emerging as a key tool in strengthening global financial connectivity.

Experts believe that continued expansion of UPI will further enhance digital inclusion, support innovation in fintech services, and reinforce India’s leadership in developing scalable and secure payment ecosystems. As adoption deepens both domestically and internationally, UPI is expected to play an increasingly central role in shaping the future of global digital payments.

The leadership change marks a significant step in Integreon’s strategy to expand its AI-powered legal and business services as organizations worldwide increasingly embrace artificial intelligence to modernize operations.

Nacha takes charge with more than 30 years of experience leading global businesses across technology consulting, business process services, and information management. In his new role, he will oversee the company’s strategic direction and day-to-day operations while driving growth through technology-enabled service delivery and AI integration.

His experience includes leading large-scale operational transformations, expanding global delivery capabilities, and implementing technology-driven business strategies across multiple industries.

Anup Bagaria, co-managing partner at EagleTree Capital, Integreon’s primary investor, described Nacha as the ideal leader to guide the company through its next stage of growth. He praised Nacha’s track record of managing complex global operations, building high-performing teams, and delivering strong results for clients.

Commenting on his appointment, Nacha said businesses today require partners capable of delivering rapid results while leveraging artificial intelligence responsibly. He noted that Integreon’s combination of deep domain expertise and AI-powered workflows positions the company to support clients as they modernize legal, compliance, administrative, and business operations.

He added that Nacha’s extensive experience in leading technology-enabled change will help strengthen the company’s capabilities and expand its presence in the global market.

With operations spanning three continents and services available in more than 70 languages, Integreon plans to build on its global delivery network under Nacha’s leadership as enterprises continue accelerating investments in artificial intelligence and digital transformation.

The post Krishna Nacha Named Integreon CEO to Lead AI Growth first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

The discussions took place during a meeting in Bangkok between India’s Ambassador to Thailand, Puneet Agrawal, and Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow.

According to a statement shared by the Indian Embassy in Thailand on social media platform X, the meeting was a courtesy call that provided an opportunity for both sides to review the progress of bilateral relations. The discussions centered on enhancing economic engagement in a balanced manner while also exploring opportunities to deepen cultural, religious, and people-to-people connections between the two nations.

Both sides also emphasized the importance of improving connectivity initiatives and strengthening coordination on regional and global issues of shared interest. The talks highlighted the growing alignment between India’s “Act East” policy and Thailand’s “Act West” approach, which together aim to deepen engagement between South and Southeast Asia.

India and Thailand elevated their relationship to a Strategic Partnership in April of the previous year during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official visit to Bangkok. Since then, both countries have continued to expand cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, defense, tourism, education, science and technology, and cultural exchange.

Earlier this year in March, Prime Minister Modi extended his congratulations to Thailand’s leadership following the election of Anutin Charnvirakul as Prime Minister. In his message, he expressed confidence in further strengthening bilateral ties and emphasized the shared civilizational heritage that connects the two countries. He also highlighted the importance of continued collaboration for mutual peace, progress, and prosperity.

Diplomatic relations between India and Thailand were formally established in 1947, and the two countries marked 75 years of diplomatic ties in 2022. Over the decades, the partnership has grown into a multifaceted relationship covering economic cooperation, security collaboration, academic exchange, tourism, and cultural linkages.

Today, India and Thailand continue to build on this long-standing foundation, with both governments expressing commitment to expanding economic opportunities and enhancing regional cooperation. The latest discussions in Bangkok reflect a shared intention to deepen engagement and further strengthen one of Asia’s steadily growing strategic partnerships.

The post India and Thailand Boost Strategic Partnership Talks first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

The diaspora expressed strong enthusiasm as they welcomed the Prime Minister, sharing moments of interaction and photographs during the visit.

Following the meet-and-greet, PM Modi was scheduled to visit the Navashakti Vinayakar Temple in Victoria. Ahead of his arrival, members of the Indian community described extensive preparations made to receive him, noting that the timing of his visit coincided with Seychelles’ 50th National Day celebrations, making the occasion especially significant for the diaspora.

Community members highlighted their excitement and pride in hosting the Prime Minister. One member said the community was pleased that PM Modi was visiting during the national celebrations and mentioned that prayers would be offered for his long life and continued leadership. Cultural programs were also organized to honor his visit and showcase Indian traditions within Seychelles.

Another member of the diaspora, Shashi, emphasized the emotional significance of the visit, noting the strong bilateral relationship between India and Seychelles. He expressed hope that the engagement would further deepen diplomatic and cultural ties between the two nations.

Dhanlakshmi, another diaspora member, described the visit as an honor and noted her involvement in initiatives connected with local government cooperation. She also expressed optimism that India would continue supporting infrastructure development at the Hindu temple, reflecting the strong cultural connection shared by the Indian-origin community in Seychelles.

PM Modi had earlier participated in Seychelles’ National Day celebrations as Guest of Honour. The event marked the 50th anniversary of the country’s independence and featured large-scale ceremonies, including a dramatic parachute display by Seychelles security forces carrying national flags, which drew enthusiastic public celebrations.

According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the visit reflects the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and people-to-people ties between India and Seychelles. As a key maritime partner in the Indian Ocean region, Seychelles plays an important role in India’s Vision MAHASAGAR, which focuses on mutual security and growth across regions, as well as broader engagement with the Global South.

During the visit, PM Modi was also conferred the “Guardian of the Blue Horizon” award, recognizing his leadership in environmental conservation and sustainable development. These so-called “insurgent” brands are gaining significant traction by leveraging digital platforms, evolving consumer preferences, and fast-paced product innovation.

According to findings from a report by Bain & Company and DSG Consumer Partners, this segment of brands generated approximately $7.5 billion in revenue in FY25, a substantial rise from about $2 billion five years earlier. This sharp increase highlights how quickly newer companies are scaling within India’s expanding consumer economy.

Although these brands still represent less than 2% of most consumer product categories, they are consistently outperforming established players in terms of growth. Their success is largely driven by their ability to identify and serve niche demand segments that were previously underserved by traditional FMCG companies.

The report noted particularly strong performance in categories such as jewellery and beauty, where these emerging brands are expanding at rates up to six times faster than the broader market. Other segments, including snacks, personal care, home essentials, and wearable products, are also witnessing similar momentum as newer players continue to enter and expand.

A key driver of this growth has been the rapid expansion of digital commerce and quick commerce platforms, which have significantly reduced barriers to customer acquisition and product distribution. These platforms have allowed brands to reach consumers faster, test new products efficiently, and scale operations with greater agility.

New-age companies are also focusing on innovation-led positioning, offering products such as high-protein snacks, health-oriented beverages, scientifically formulated skincare solutions, and ergonomic lifestyle products. This targeted approach has helped them build strong customer loyalty and differentiate themselves in a crowded marketplace.

Despite their strong growth trajectory, scaling remains a major challenge in the sector. The report highlighted that only a small fraction of companies founded since 2008 have crossed the $12 million revenue mark, and even fewer have scaled beyond $60 million. However, the continued expansion of this ecosystem signals strong entrepreneurial momentum and growing maturity in India’s digital-first consumer economy.

Overall, the rise of these new consumer brands reflects a broader transformation in India’s retail landscape, where digital access, innovation, and changing lifestyles are reshaping how products are created, marketed, and consumed.

The post India’s New Consumer Brands Outpace Market Growth first appeared on Global Indian News Network.
