The University of North Carolina (UNC) Charlotte celebrated the remarkable achievements of Sejal Foxx ’08 Ph.D., honoring her with the 2025 ACE Milestone Award during Niner Nation Week. The recognition, presented at an appreciation luncheon on October 13 in the Popp Martin Student Union, highlights Foxx’s exceptional contributions as an alumnus and faculty member.
Dr. Foxx serves as professor and chair of the Department of Counseling within the Cato College of Education and is the visionary founder and director of the Urban School Counseling Collaborative, a dynamic initiative supporting doctoral students and school counselor educators. Her leadership has established the program as a thriving hub for academic growth, mentorship, and professional development in counseling education.
A nationally acclaimed scholar, educator, and mentor, Foxx has successfully secured over $4.2 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Education and the National Science Foundation. She has contributed extensively to academic literature, authoring more than 40 peer-reviewed articles, books, and book chapters. In addition, she chairs the International Registry of Counsellor Education Programs, reflecting her influence and dedication to advancing global counseling education standards. Her accolades include the 2015 Counselor Educator of the Year award from the North Carolina School Counselors Association and the 2025 Harshini V. de Silva Graduate Mentor Award.
The ACE Milestone Award is reserved for alumni campus employees who have dedicated 10 or more years of service to UNC Charlotte, exemplifying the 49er spirit through their commitment, leadership, and impact. This recognition honors individuals who have not only excelled professionally but have also fostered a sense of community, mentorship, and excellence across campus.
Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber emphasized the significance of alumni contributions, noting, “We are fortunate to have more than 1,000 alumni campus employees here at Charlotte, which is pretty remarkable.” Dr. Foxx’s recognition underscores the university’s commitment to celebrating leadership, scholarship, and long-term dedication among its alumni.
