Ahmedabad witnessed a historic moment as Gujarat’s cooperative sector set a new Guinness World Record by writing over 11.1 million postcards to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The massive initiative, organized by the Department of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare, and Cooperation, aimed to express heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister for his GST reforms and other key policy measures that benefited farmers and cooperatives across the state.
According to official figures, a total of 11,175,000 postcards were penned simultaneously — a feat never achieved before anywhere in the world. The grand counting ceremony took place at the picturesque Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, where Guinness World Records representatives verified and certified the achievement on October 14, 2025.
The official certificate recognized the Department of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Cooperation, Government of Gujarat, for accomplishing the “largest number of postcards written simultaneously” globally. Originally, officials anticipated around 7.5 million postcards, but the overwhelming response from the people of Gujarat far exceeded expectations, reaching more than 11.1 million.
This new benchmark shattered the previous record held by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in Basel, Switzerland, which stood at just 6,666 postcards. The Gujarat government described the achievement as a testament to the state’s unity, gratitude, and enthusiasm for national progress.
The event highlighted the strong connection between citizens and leadership, showcasing Gujarat’s vibrant cooperative spirit. With this record-breaking gesture, millions of participants from across the state not only expressed appreciation but also reinforced a sense of collective pride and community participation on an unprecedented scale.
