US President Donald Trump has officially nominated Sergio Gor, one of his most trusted aides and a seasoned political strategist, to serve as the United States Ambassador to India. Gor will also take on the role of Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs, marking his most prominent diplomatic appointment to date.
The announcement came through Trump’s Truth Social post, where he praised Gor’s loyalty and organizational ability. Highlighting Gor’s contributions, Trump said, “I am proud to nominate Sergio Gor as our next Ambassador to the Republic of India and Special Envoy for South and Central Asia.” He emphasized that Gor’s efforts as Director of Presidential Personnel were instrumental in appointing nearly 4,000 officials across government departments, achieving a 95% staffing rate at record speed.
Trump underscored Gor’s long-standing association with him, recalling his pivotal roles in presidential campaigns, book publications, and the management of a major Super PAC that supported the America First movement. Calling India one of the most crucial regions in the world, Trump stressed the need for a representative he could fully trust, adding, “Sergio will be an incredible ambassador. Congratulations!”
Expressing gratitude, Gor took to X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Deeply thankful to President Trump for this trust. Serving the American people has been the greatest honor, and representing the United States in India would be the proudest moment of my career.” He further praised the administration’s record of accomplishments under Trump’s leadership.
The nomination drew swift endorsements from top officials. Vice President JD Vance described Gor as a “fantastic ambassador” who played a central role in recent successes. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the choice “an excellent decision,” highlighting India as one of America’s most significant international partnerships. FBI Director Kash Patel also congratulated Gor, calling the appointment “outstanding.”
At 38, Gor has established himself as a powerful figure in conservative politics, though he has often remained behind the scenes. His rise in the White House was marked by his responsibility for vetting thousands of appointments to ensure alignment with Trump’s vision. With his new diplomatic role, Gor is set to take his influence to the global stage, shaping America’s relations with one of its most vital partners in Asia.
