The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has rolled out the ‘MSE TEAM’ (Trade Enablement and Marketing) initiative, part of the World Bank-backed Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) program. This nationwide effort is aimed at equipping Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) with the digital skills and tools needed to strengthen their presence in e-commerce.
Central to the plan is integrating MSEs with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), enabling them to reach more customers and boost revenue. The initiative offers comprehensive support, from onboarding and digital catalog creation to account management, logistics, and packaging. Training and capacity-building programs will further help small businesses adapt to online trade.
The scheme targets 500,000 MSEs, half of which will be women-led, with special outreach to tier-II and tier-III cities. Alongside ONDC integration, the Ministry will leverage its own platforms—including the eKhadi India portal, MSME Global Mart, and the Government e-Marketplace (GeM)—to create stronger market linkages. These channels will open opportunities in B2B trade, consumer e-commerce, and government procurement.
Other supportive measures include the Procurement and Marketing Support (PMS) Scheme, which helps MSEs participate in trade fairs, exhibitions, and buyer-seller meets. It also provides subsidies for listing on MSME Global Mart. The eKhadi India portal, dedicated to Khadi and Village Industries products, connects artisans and weavers directly with buyers and is integrated with the GeM platform.
The MSME Global Mart, operated by the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), enhances marketing efforts with features like improved online visibility, trade lead generation, and tender alerts. Meanwhile, GeM continues to serve as the unified procurement hub for government agencies, offering transparency through tools such as e-bidding and reverse auctions.
Together, these programs are designed to improve the competitiveness of India’s micro and small enterprises, accelerate digital adoption, and broaden their reach in both domestic and global markets. By blending e-commerce integration with targeted support for women entrepreneurs and smaller cities, the government aims to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth for the MSME sector.
