India is rapidly solidifying its status as the leading logistics hub in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, according to CBRE’s 2025 India Logistics Occupier Survey. The report reveals that nearly 70% of occupiers—including global and domestic players—plan to expand their logistics operations in India over the next two years, cementing the country’s place at the heart of regional supply chain transformation.
This surge in interest is being fueled by a strategic blend of domestic consumption growth, robust infrastructure development, and realignment of global supply chains post-pandemic. The survey found that over 80% of Indian respondents, comprising both local and multinational firms, expressed strong expansion intentions, despite the prevailing global economic headwinds.
Mr. Anshuman Magazine, Chairman and CEO for CBRE in India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, emphasized that India’s logistics ecosystem is undergoing a fundamental shift. He credited this momentum to macroeconomic stability, sustainable infrastructure, and an industry-wide pivot toward automated and ESG-aligned warehousing.
Approximately 84% of businesses surveyed said they preferred to lease investment-grade, environmentally conscious facilities. These include warehouses with automated storage and retrieval systems, green certifications, and smart energy features, underlining how technology and sustainability have become key decision-making criteria in logistics planning.
Meanwhile, tier-2 cities like Indore, Nagpur, Coimbatore, Lucknow, and Jaipur are emerging as new logistics hotspots, combining cost-effectiveness with strong connectivity. These cities are rising in prominence thanks to their growing industrial base and proximity to major consumption corridors.
With India’s warehousing stock expected to double by 2030, the sector is set to benefit immensely from ongoing government support, notably through initiatives like the Gati Shakti master plan and the National Logistics Policy (NLP). These policies aim to create an integrated, multimodal logistics ecosystem, further propelling India’s global competitiveness in this space.
As supply chains grow smarter and greener, India’s strategic focus on scalability, automation, and sustainability is positioning it not just as an efficient logistics hub, but as APAC’s preferred destination for future-ready warehousing.
