The Imagindia Institute, a New Delhi-based policy and leadership think tank, has announced the launch of the Trump Study Circle (TSC)—an international initiative designed to help Indians understand the evolving landscape of American politics. Unveiled on Thursday, this non-partisan, educational platform focuses particularly on those whose lives and futures are closely intertwined with the United States, including students, working professionals, and families.
The initiative’s broader goal is to elevate what it calls the “Global Quotient” (GQ), a term denoting civic awareness, strategic thinking, and global understanding. According to the institute, Indian youth and families often find themselves overwhelmed by shifting US immigration rules, education systems, and foreign policy directions—issues made even more complex with the possible return of Donald Trump to the presidency.
“There’s a great deal of curiosity—and confusion—surrounding Donald Trump, the US, and the potential global impact of their policies, particularly on Indian-origin IT professionals, students, and their families,” said Robinder Sachdev, founder-chairman of the Trump Study Circle and a prominent US politics analyst. “Our aim is to turn that curiosity into meaningful civic discussions and greater public awareness.”
The TSC’s signature campaign—the 2025 Global Dialogue & Survey—is scheduled from June 14 to July 4, aligning with key American observances such as Flag Day and Independence Day. This three-week initiative will include more than 250 civic dialogues across the country, ranging from metropolitan hubs to small-town and rural India.
The dialogues will take various formats—college roundtables, tech-sector huddles, parent meetings, and café-style discussions—all centred around key US-linked topics. Topics of concern include the future of H-1B visas, delays in green card processing, immigration routes, campus safety for Indian students, admission prospects, and the financial risks associated with studying in the US amid ongoing political uncertainty.
Highlighting the deeper intent behind the project, Sachdev remarked in Hindi, “Trump toh bahana hai — humko toh GQ badana hai,” which translates to “Trump is just the pretext—we aim to raise our Global Quotient.”
As more Indian families weigh education and career decisions involving the US, the Trump Study Circle hopes to offer clarity, facts, and tools for informed decision-making in a shifting geopolitical climate.
