How Kangana Ranaut Strengthened PM Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Initiative on World Environment Day
On World Environment Day, actress and newly-elected BJP MP Kangana Ranaut joined the nationwide movement ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, a campaign encouraging citizens to plant a tree in honor of their mothers.
Kangana marked the occasion by planting a sapling at her residence in Delhi, dedicating the gesture to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She also used the moment to express gratitude toward environmentalists and grassroots workers who contribute daily to protecting natural ecosystems.
In a message shared on social media, Kangana highlighted the importance of planting trees and appreciated efforts toward restoring rivers, cleaning plastic from oceans, and enriching the soil. Photos of her planting the sapling showed her actively engaging in the campaign’s spirit.
The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, launched by PM Modi on World Environment Day 2023, is a heartfelt initiative that links environmental responsibility with emotional ties. Citizens are encouraged to plant trees in memory or honor of their mothers, reflecting care and nurturing for both nature and loved ones.
On June 5, PM Modi officially launched Phase 2 of the campaign at Mahavir Jayanti Park in New Delhi. The upgraded campaign aims to plant 10 crore trees across India between June 5 and September 30, emphasizing mass participation for a greener future.
PM Modi also shared a public message encouraging citizens to take proactive steps toward preserving the planet and congratulated those working at the grassroots level for environmental protection.
Kangana’s participation in the campaign reinforces the powerful role of public figures in advancing sustainable practices and inspiring citizens to act. As a BJP MP and celebrated public figure, her involvement adds visibility and emotional resonance to the cause.
