A significant milestone in the construction of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya is set to be achieved with the Prana Pratishtha (consecration) of eight new deities within the temple premises.
Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, announced that the consecration rituals will be conducted between June 3 and 5, with the main Prana Pratishtha Puja scheduled for June 5 at 11:25 a.m., followed by Bhog Aarti at around 1 p.m. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to attend the ceremony.
The deities to be consecrated include Shivling, Ganpati, Hanuman Ji, Surya Dev, Bhagwati, Annapurna, Sheshavatar, and Shri Ram Darbar. The rituals will be conducted in traditional Vedic style by 101 Vedic acharyas from across the country.
Rai emphasized that the ceremonies are intended to be worship-centric rather than a mass public event. “We request devotees not to inconvenience themselves by coming in large numbers, especially on June 5. There is no formal invitation system. The event is open to all, but we expect devotion, discipline, and restraint from everyone,” he stated.
The consecration aligns with Ganga Dussehra and also marks the birthday of CM Yogi Adityanath. Rai described the timing as a “spontaneous and divine alignment.”
The three-day Vedic ceremony will begin each morning at 6:30 a.m., culminating with the main puja on the final day.
As a prelude to the consecration, a Kalash Yatra was held, beginning from the banks of the Saryu River. The Yatra witnessed enthusiastic participation, especially from women, and passed through major points in Ayodhya including Rangmahal Barrier, Lata Chowk, Rampath, Hanumangarhi Bazaar, and Dashrath Mahal before reaching the Yagya Sthal.
Given the uncertain weather, the Trust has not planned any large-scale public gathering. Devotees have been encouraged to visit Ayodhya at their convenience and avoid crowding on June 5.
