Mumbai’s iconic Siddhivinayak Temple in Prabhadevi, dedicated to Lord Ganesha, has reported a significant surge in its financial earnings, reflecting its continued prominence as a major pilgrimage destination. For the fiscal year 2024–25, the temple reported a total revenue of $1.6 million—a 15% increase from the prior year, as shared by the temple trust’s executive officer, Veena Patil.
According to the trust’s annual financial plan, presented on March 31, income for the upcoming fiscal year, 2025–26, is projected to climb even further, reaching an estimated $1.85 million.
Deputy executive officer Sandeep Rathod credited this growth to effective administration and better crowd management. He explained that the temple initially expected $1.37 million in revenue but surpassed that by a significant margin. “With efficient systems in place, more devotees experience a smooth and orderly darshan, which encourages increased offerings,” he noted. At Siddhivinayak, each visitor gets around 10 to 15 seconds for darshan—more time than what is generally offered at other large temples. Rathod believes this better experience fosters goodwill and generosity.
The temple’s income streams include offerings collected in the donation boxes (daan peti), rituals and prayer services, online contributions, sales of traditional sweets like laddoos and other prasad, along with donations in the form of gold and silver.
The steady rise in donations is seen as a reflection of not just faith but also the trust’s ability to make visits more accessible and meaningful. As the temple heads into a new financial year, expectations remain high that this upward trend in contributions and public support will continue.
