Dr. Raj Singh, Regents Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Oklahoma State University (OSU), was awarded the prestigious Eminent Faculty Award during the University Awards Convocation on December 13, 2024. The ceremony, held in the Student Union Ballroom, celebrated OSU faculty, staff, and administrators for their significant achievements. Dr. Singh’s recognition came through nominations by his supervisors and colleagues.
The Eminent Faculty Award, which includes a $10,000 stipend, is OSU’s highest honor for faculty members who have consistently made outstanding contributions to scholarly activities, teaching, and service, while elevating the university’s reputation. OSU Provost Jeanette Mendez praised the dedication and innovation of the university community during the event.
Dr. Singh, who earned his Sc.D. in Materials Science and Engineering-Ceramics from MIT, is a distinguished member of several prestigious organizations. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and the American Ceramic Society. He also holds Fellow status with ASM International and the Graduate School at the University of Cincinnati.
With over 350 research articles and 28 granted patents to his name, Dr. Singh’s research spans several key areas, including quantum devices, materials for thermal management of electronic devices, and nanostructured materials. His previous experience includes roles at renowned institutions like Argonne National Laboratory, the GE R&D Center, and the University of Cincinnati, where he also served as Department Head of Materials Science and Engineering.
Currently, Dr. Singh’s research focuses on developing materials for fuel cells, batteries, supercapacitors, nanomaterials for medical applications, and smart/ferroelectric materials, among others. His groundbreaking work continues to advance the field of materials science and engineering.
