The Ministry of Defence announced on Friday that the Agni 4 intermediate-range ballistic missile was successfully launched. The missile was launched from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha, and met all technical and operational benchmarks, according to a ministry official.
The official also noted that the launch was conducted under the supervision of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC). This success follows a previous achievement on April 4, when India successfully conducted a flight test of the Agni-Prime, a new-generation ballistic missile.
The Agni series of missiles, developed by India, are surface-to-surface ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads over long distances. These missiles have been a key component of India’s defence capabilities, with the SFC and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) leading the development and testing efforts.
