On Monday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar extended a warm welcome to Arzu Rana Deuba, Nepal’s Foreign Minister, marking her first official visit to India in her current role. Jaishankar shared a photo with Deuba on X, expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming discussions: “Welcome @Arzuranadeuba of Nepal on her first visit to India as Foreign Minister. Looking forward to our talks.”
Deuba arrived in New Delhi on Sunday for a five-day visit, following an invitation from Jaishankar. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that this visit is part of the ongoing tradition of high-level exchanges between India and Nepal.
MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal also welcomed Deuba via X, emphasizing the significance of the visit in continuing the strong bilateral ties between the two nations. The visit underscores the close and enduring relationship between India and Nepal.
According to Nepal’s Foreign Ministry, Deuba’s meetings with Jaishankar will focus on enhancing Nepal-India relations and exploring avenues for deeper cooperation. The visit is seen as a step to further strengthen the long-standing and multifaceted bilateral relationship.
Additionally, an official from Deuba’s secretariat revealed that she will participate in Rakshabandhan celebrations with Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale during her visit. Although Deuba had initially planned a medical checkup in India later, the timing of the visit allowed for a celebration of Rakshabandhan alongside her official duties.
