India is preparing to host the ‘Global IndiaAI Summit 2024’ in New Delhi on July 3-4, organized by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. This summit aims to bring together international AI experts for collaboration and knowledge exchange, demonstrating India’s commitment to ethical and inclusive AI development.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, the summit will gather stakeholders from science, industry, civil society, governments, international organizations, and academia. These experts will convene to discuss critical AI issues, share insights, and tackle challenges within the AI ecosystem.
India seeks to bolster its standing in the global AI community through this event, focusing on advancing technologies that are safe, secure, and beneficial to society. As the lead chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), India will host member countries and experts to advance GPAI’s mission of promoting trustworthy AI practices.
The summit will highlight India’s prowess in AI, emphasizing its goal of making AI benefits accessible nationwide and contributing to socio-economic development. Central to this effort is the IndiaAI Mission, designed to build an inclusive ecosystem that fosters AI innovation across the country.
The IndiaAI Mission aims to democratize access to computing resources, enhance data quality, cultivate indigenous AI capabilities, attract top talent, foster industry collaboration, fund startups, ensure societal impacts of AI projects, and advocate ethical AI practices. Structured around seven key pillars, each addresses critical aspects of AI development and deployment.
IndiaAI Compute Capacity aims to establish a scalable AI computing ecosystem with over 10,000 GPUs through public-private partnerships, including an AI marketplace offering services and pre-trained models for researchers and innovators.
IndiaAI Innovation Centre focuses on developing large multimodal models (LMMs) and domain-specific foundational models tailored to India’s diverse industries.
IndiaAI Datasets Platform aims to streamline access to high-quality non-personal datasets through a unified platform, supporting startups and researchers in robust AI model development.
IndiaAI Application Development Initiative promotes AI applications in critical sectors by addressing problem statements from government bodies to create transformative AI solutions.
IndiaAI FutureSkills aims to democratize AI education, expanding AI courses and establishing Data and AI Labs in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities to nurture skilled professionals.
IndiaAI Startup Financing supports deep-tech AI startups with streamlined funding access, fostering a vibrant ecosystem for technological and economic growth.
Safe & Trusted AI focuses on responsible AI development, including indigenous tools, frameworks, and guidelines to enhance transparency and trustworthiness in AI technologies.
