Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasized the significance of tribal welfare in Jammu and Kashmir since August 2019. During the virtual launch of ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Raj Bhawan Srinagar, Sinha highlighted the administration’s commitment to empowering tribal communities through diverse initiatives.
Acknowledging the importance of tribal welfare, Sinha expressed gratitude to PM Modi for initiating outreach activities in Bandipora and Rajouri. The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, aimed at benefitting eligible individuals not yet availing various schemes, received praise from the LG.
The Sankalp Yatra in J&K kicked off from Budhal, Rajouri, Gurez, and Bandipora, involving the participation of the public, PRI members, and government officials. Sinha emphasized that the Center’s initiative to create awareness and interact with beneficiaries would significantly contribute to the socio-economic empowerment of tribal communities and the less privileged.
He called for collaborative efforts to address key areas, including sickle cell anemia elimination, EKLAVYA enrollment, scholarships, Forest Rights titles, Self Help Groups, and Van Dhan Vikas Kendra. Sinha directed DCs and administrative officials to focus on saturating Individual Forest Rights.
Beneficiaries from Rajouri and Bandipora shared their experiences and gratitude through video conferencing. The ‘Hamara Sankalp Viksit Bharat’ pledge was administered, and outreach activities in other districts were scheduled to commence in the third week of November. A route plan for IEC vans and a control room at both J&K and district levels were established for coordination.
