Manisha Pathak, an Indian-origin resident of Fremont, California, has received the endorsement of Anurag Mishra after he withdrew from the race for Fremont City Council District 4. His decision leaves three candidates competing for the council seat in the November 3, 2026, election.
Mishra announced his withdrawal following a community meeting hosted by Dr. Romesh Japra, founder and chairman of A4H. The discussion focused on strengthening community relationships and supporting leadership that represents the diverse residents of District 4.
Pathak welcomed Mishra’s endorsement, emphasizing the importance of inclusive leadership, public engagement, and cooperation. She said effective local leadership requires listening to residents from different backgrounds, generations, and professions while ensuring their concerns receive attention.
Expressing gratitude for Mishra’s support, Pathak highlighted the importance of putting community interests ahead of individual political ambitions. She said public service should focus on collective efforts to address residents’ needs and build stronger connections across the community.
Pathak’s campaign has identified several key issues affecting Fremont residents, including public safety, homelessness, mental health services, traffic congestion, infrastructure development, responsible housing growth, and environmental sustainability. Her campaign also emphasizes greater community participation in local government decisions.
A Fremont resident for more than two decades, Pathak serves on the city’s Human Relations Commission and volunteers as a Senior Peer Counselor. She has also participated in student wellness initiatives and has experience in community and mental health services, alongside a professional career in technology leadership.
Pathak said Mishra’s support reflects a shared commitment to building trust, encouraging collaboration, and creating a safer and more connected community. She expressed her intention to continue engaging with residents across District 4 and addressing their everyday concerns.
Following Mishra’s withdrawal, Pathak’s opponents in the November 3 election are Aziz Akbari and Ying Min Li. The race will determine the next representative for Fremont City Council District 4, with community priorities and local governance issues remaining central to the campaign.
