Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the BRICS Summit as a major platform for strengthening India’s engagement with countries across different regions, holding 15 formal bilateral meetings with heads of state and government over the three-day gathering.
The series of high-level discussions reflected India’s growing diplomatic outreach and its focus on maintaining constructive relationships with major global partners. In addition to scheduled bilateral talks, Modi also held several informal interactions with international leaders and representatives of global institutions on the sidelines of the summit.
Among the prominent leaders Modi met were Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince. Their meetings provided an opportunity to discuss areas of mutual interest and explore avenues for closer cooperation between India and its international partners.
Modi’s diplomatic schedule also included discussions with leaders from Southeast Asia, Africa and other important regions. He met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The prime minister also held talks with Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Ugandan Vice President Jessica Alupo, among other leaders. Modi’s 15 bilateral meetings stand out as one of the key highlights of India’s diplomatic engagement at the BRICS Summit. The extensive schedule demonstrated New Delhi’s effort to use the multilateral gathering not only for discussions within the BRICS framework but also to deepen individual relationships with countries around the world.
From Europe and Asia to the Middle East and Africa, the meetings brought together leaders representing diverse geopolitical and economic interests. They underscored India’s active role in international diplomacy and its continuing push for dialogue, cooperation and stronger global partnerships.
