An Indian-origin entrepreneur based in the United States has shared a deeply personal reflection on her eight-year journey in the country, offering an honest perspective on immigration, personal growth, loneliness, and resilience. In a recent social media post, she described how moving to the US transformed both her personal identity and professional path, taking her from a data science and artificial intelligence career into entrepreneurship, advisory roles for startups, and AI education.
She explained that life as an immigrant involves far more than relocation. It requires adjusting to new cultural expectations, professional environments, and social systems while simultaneously trying to build a sense of belonging in an unfamiliar society. According to her, immigrants often walk into spaces where they are unknown and must still learn to believe in their own worth and place in those environments.
The entrepreneur began her career in the US working in data science and AI, but later faced what she described as a challenging immigration process that tested her patience, confidence, and emotional strength. Despite these obstacles, she gradually transitioned into entrepreneurship, building her own professional identity while also mentoring startups, educating learners in AI, and creating digital content.

In response, she stressed that geography does not define emotional bonds, patriotism, or care for one’s roots. According to her, it is entirely possible to maintain deep ties to one’s homeland while choosing to build a career and life elsewhere.
The entrepreneur, identified as Aishwarya Srinivasan, has an extensive background in data science and artificial intelligence. She studied computer science at VIT, completed multiple internships at major organizations, and co-authored several research papers during her academic years. She later pursued a master’s degree at Columbia University and contributed to machine learning research before working at leading global companies, including IBM and Google. Over time, she also launched mentorship initiatives to support students and professionals entering the AI field.
