Members of the Indian diaspora in France have announced that the country is set to witness a historic cultural milestone with the inauguration of its first traditional Hindu temple, scheduled for September this year. The development has been widely welcomed within the community, who see it as a symbol of cultural pride and growing India-France relations.
Speaking to IANS, several members of the Indian community expressed enthusiasm over the upcoming inauguration. Bhavi Parekh, a prominent member of the diaspora, said the community felt deeply honored following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit. She highlighted that the upcoming temple opening marks another significant moment of celebration. She further explained that the structure has been meticulously crafted in India and then assembled in France, reflecting a blend of heritage craftsmanship and international collaboration. She also extended an open invitation to visitors from across the world to experience the temple.
Another representative associated with the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) shared that the temple has been constructed using stones sourced from India, emphasizing its authentic traditional design. He noted that the project represents a strong cultural link between the two countries and invited people from France, India, and the global Hindu community to participate in the scheduled 15-day inauguration program in September.
The announcement came shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed a successful series of engagements at the G7 Summit in Evian, France, before arriving in Paris. His visit was marked by a warm reception from the Indian diaspora, who gathered to welcome him and celebrate the growing ties between India and France. PM Modi expressed pride in the Indian community’s role in strengthening bilateral relations and fostering mutual understanding between the two nations.
Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister stated that he was deeply moved by the welcome and acknowledged the diaspora’s contribution in bringing India and France closer. He also underscored that the India-France partnership holds significant importance for global progress and stability.
Earlier during the G7 Summit, PM Modi participated in several high-level discussions, where he outlined India’s perspective on governance, international policy, and inclusive global development.
