Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome from French President Emmanuel Macron as he arrived in Evian, France, to participate in the G7 Summit. The two leaders greeted each other with a friendly embrace before the outreach session, highlighting the close relationship between India and France. Modi later expressed his appreciation to Macron through a message on social media, thanking him for the hospitality extended during the high-profile gathering.
According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the meeting allowed both leaders to continue discussions that began during their recent engagement in Nice. Their interaction reflected a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties while also collaborating on broader international issues through multilateral platforms. The ministry noted that the leaders carried forward their dialogue within the larger framework of the G7 Summit, where global challenges and economic priorities are at the center of discussions.
Ahead of the summit’s official proceedings, Modi participated in the traditional family photograph alongside heads of state and government from major economies and partner nations. During the event, he exchanged views with several world leaders, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and cooperation in addressing complex global concerns. He described these conversations as valuable opportunities to gain diverse perspectives on pressing international matters.
The summit also provided an opportunity for a brief interaction between Modi and US President Donald Trump. The two leaders exchanged greetings and held a short discussion before attending a working session focused on strengthening partnerships and rebuilding international solidarity. The session brought together G7 member countries, partner nations, representatives from major financial institutions, and development organizations.
A more extensive bilateral meeting between Modi and Trump is scheduled to take place during the summit. Discussions are expected to focus on economic expansion, resilient supply chains, artificial intelligence, investment opportunities, and evolving security challenges around the world. The meeting is anticipated to further enhance strategic cooperation between India and the United States.
Upon reaching Evian, Modi reiterated India’s commitment to supporting collective international efforts aimed at creating a sustainable and prosperous future. Invited by President Macron, the Indian Prime Minister is participating in the G7 Summit for the 13th time on behalf of India and is marking his seventh consecutive appearance at the gathering, underlining India’s growing influence in global affairs.
