Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi held key discussions with US military leadership in Honolulu, focusing on strengthening defence ties and reinforcing a shared commitment to stability in the Indo-Pacific region. During his visit, he met General Ronald P Clark, Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific, along with other senior officials to explore avenues for deeper military cooperation.
Upon arrival in Hawaii, General Dwivedi was formally welcomed with a Guard of Honour at Fort Shafter. He also undertook an aerial tour of Oahu Island, where he gained insights into the US Army’s training infrastructure and its readiness for multi-domain operations. The visit highlighted growing collaboration between the two armies in areas of strategy, training, and operational coordination.
Earlier engagements between India and the United States have also reinforced this strategic partnership. High-level talks between the chiefs of the two countries’ air forces focused on improving interoperability, expanding joint training programs, and enhancing regional deterrence capabilities in the Indo-Pacific.
During a recent visit to the United States, Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh was hosted by US Air Force Chief General Kenneth Wilsbach. The visit included official meetings at the Pentagon, where discussions centered on modernization efforts, future training opportunities, and strengthening bilateral defence cooperation. Senior US officials described India as a key partner in maintaining a free, open, and stable Indo-Pacific region.
The discussions also covered India’s acquisition of advanced military platforms, including MQ-9B Sky Guardian drones, with the US expressing its commitment to supporting their effective integration into India’s defence framework. Both sides highlighted the importance of expanding industrial collaboration to strengthen long-term defence capabilities.
Further engagements included detailed staff-level talks covering operational areas such as advanced airlift training, joint exercises, and collaborative programs under defence partnerships. These discussions aim to enhance coordination between the armed forces of both countries and improve their ability to respond to evolving security challenges.
As part of his visit, Air Chief Marshal Singh also toured key US military facilities, including space and air warfare centers, where he was briefed on advanced defence operations. These interactions reflect a broader effort by both nations to deepen military ties and build a more integrated approach to regional security.
