Ramu Abbagani held a meeting with Dato Seri Setia Haji Nazmi Mohamad in Bandar Seri Begawan, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation between India and Brunei.
The discussions highlighted efforts to enhance collaboration across cultural, youth, and sports sectors, reflecting a broader push to deepen diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
In recent engagements, the Indian High Commissioner also met Hajah May Fa’ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin to explore opportunities for expanding economic and trade cooperation. The talks focused on strengthening commercial ties and boosting bilateral economic exchanges.
Earlier meetings with Pg Hj Mohd Hasnan Pg Hj Ali Hassan emphasised the importance of cultural collaboration, aiming to promote shared heritage and people-to-people connections.
Diplomatic outreach also included participation in Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations hosted by Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohd Riza, underscoring the warmth and goodwill in bilateral relations.
India and Brunei established diplomatic ties in 1984, and their relationship continues to be anchored in shared cultural values and cooperation across multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Commonwealth of Nations, and ASEAN.
A key milestone in recent years was the visit of Narendra Modi to Brunei in September 2024 at the invitation of Hassanal Bolkiah, marking 40 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The continued high-level engagements reflect a shared commitment to expanding cooperation across sectors and further strengthening the India–Brunei partnership.
