India’s growing digital partnership with Nigeria is being seen as a transformative step that could help the African nation accelerate its development across governance, education, and job creation, according to a recent report.
The collaboration is based on key Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed in New Delhi between Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, and India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), along with the Central Square Foundation.

For Nigeria, which has a young population and expanding digital ambitions, this partnership presents an opportunity to replicate and adapt these solutions to local needs. The agreements aim to facilitate technology transfer, joint pilot projects, and institutional collaboration between the two countries.
The MeitY framework focuses on enhancing public service delivery through digital tools, while the partnership with Central Square Foundation aims to strengthen digital learning infrastructure in schools and training institutions.
Experts note that Nigeria’s goal of creating one million digital economy jobs and improving digital literacy can gain significant momentum through this collaboration. By leveraging India’s proven models, Nigeria can accelerate its transition into a digitally empowered economy.
