Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a two-day official visit to Israel from February 25-26, reinforcing the longstanding strategic partnership between the two nations, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Invited by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this will be Modi’s second visit to Israel since 2017, which previously expanded collaboration in defence, agriculture, and water management.
During the visit, PM Modi is scheduled to meet with Netanyahu to evaluate the progress of the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and explore new avenues of cooperation in science and technology, innovation, defence and security, agriculture, water management, trade, and people-to-people exchanges. The leaders are also expected to share perspectives on regional and global issues of mutual interest. Additionally, Modi will meet Isaac Herzog, the President of Israel, to strengthen diplomatic ties.
Netanyahu described PM Modi as a “dear friend” and hailed the visit as a historic milestone for bilateral relations. Posting on X, Modi thanked Netanyahu, highlighting the enduring friendship, mutual trust, and shared commitment to peace, innovation, and progress between India and Israel.
The Israeli PM emphasized his vision to develop a coalition of like-minded nations in the Middle East, promoting stability, security, and technological advancement. He further elaborated on Modi’s itinerary, which includes addressing the Knesset, attending an innovation-focused event in Jerusalem, visiting Yad Vashem, and advancing high-tech collaboration in AI and quantum technologies. Netanyahu underscored that AI and quantum are not just future technologies but central to current global leadership aspirations, signaling both countries’ ambitions to lead in these fields.
This visit is expected to reaffirm the robust partnership between the two resilient democracies, providing a platform to realign efforts toward strategic, economic, and technological collaboration while addressing shared challenges in the region.
