The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum has appointed Rohit Kumar Singh, former Secretary to the Government of India, as Chair of its Global Value Chains Committee and Advisor to the Board of Directors. The announcement, made in Washington, DC, marks a significant step toward reinforcing supply chain collaboration between India and the United States.
In his new capacity, Singh will work closely with global industry members and government stakeholders to promote diversified and resilient supply networks. His role will focus on regulatory coordination, infrastructure readiness, and stronger public-private engagement aimed at improving efficiency and ensuring smoother global trade flows. The organization emphasized that well-structured global value chains are critical to strengthening India’s competitiveness, accelerating manufacturing expansion, increasing exports, and sustaining long-term economic growth.
A 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service officer from the Rajasthan cadre, Singh brings decades of experience in economic governance, infrastructure policy, consumer affairs, digital systems, and public health administration. During his tenure as Secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs, he led the rollout of India’s first AI-enabled grievance redressal ecosystem, significantly modernizing consumer protection. Consumer courts nationwide were digitized under his leadership, enabling electronic filing, real-time case tracking, and multilingual video hearings. In 2023, the system achieved a milestone by resolving more consumer cases than were newly filed. He also expanded the National Consumer Helpline into a 17-language, multi-channel support platform.
Upon his appointment, Singh stated that the next generation of global value chains will be digital, data-driven, and built on trust. He noted that India’s investments in infrastructure, manufacturing capabilities, and digital public systems provide a strong foundation for deeper integration into international supply networks.
USISPF President and CEO Mukesh Aghi praised Singh’s extensive policy expertise and leadership, highlighting his work in AI-based governance reforms and infrastructure partnerships as key strengths that will support stronger economic resilience and trade cooperation.
Singh holds degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Public Administration from leading institutions in India and the United States, positioning him well to guide strategic trade and supply chain initiatives.
