Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in New Delhi for delegation-level talks, culminating in several landmark agreements across strategic sectors. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in defence, space, energy, supercomputing, and food safety, signaling a significant deepening of India–UAE ties.
According to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, the two nations formalized agreements covering a strategic defence partnership, joint initiatives in space infrastructure development, and the UAE’s involvement in the creation of a special investment region in Dholera, Gujarat. The talks also included a sales and purchase agreement between HPCL India and Adnoc Gas UAE, alongside plans to establish a supercomputing cluster in India, highlighting collaboration in cutting-edge technology.
Both countries agreed to set an ambitious target of doubling bilateral trade to $200 billion by 2032. The Dholera investment region is set to include an international airport, a pilot training school, a smart urban township, railway connectivity projects, and energy infrastructure developments, positioning it as a hub for international investment and advanced infrastructure.
Financial and commercial cooperation was further reinforced as First Abu Dhabi Bank and DP World announced plans to establish offices and operations in GIFT City, Gujarat. In a cultural milestone, India and the UAE agreed to establish the “House of India” in Abu Dhabi, which will serve as a cultural center showcasing Indian art, heritage, and archaeology, strengthening people-to-people connections between the two nations.
The agreements reflect India and the UAE’s commitment to strategic collaboration, economic growth, and cultural exchange. By combining defence, technology, trade, and cultural initiatives, both countries aim to solidify a multi-faceted partnership that spans commercial, technological, and social domains, paving the way for a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship.
