A group of 122 people arrived in Srinagar on Monday to attend the G20 meeting of the Working Group on Tourism with no disruptions to normal business operations or internet access.
According to officials, 132 people were scheduled to travel aboard an Air Asia-leased flight from New Delhi to Srinagar. 122 of them boarded and made it to Srinagar. There were 60 foreigners present. Delegates from “at least 17 G20 nations” are attending the summit at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre, which is located alongside the renowned Dal Lake, according to officials.
This is the first significant global event. G. Kishan Reddy, India’s Minister of Tourism and Culture, and other bureaucrats from several ministries traveled with the delegation.
They were welcomed at the airport by Bhavna Saxena, Joint Secretary of the G20 Secretariat; S.D. The delegates later arrived at Srinagar’s ultra-luxury hotels, Grand Lalit and Vivanta By Taj, where they will be staying for three days with strict security measures in place. Tuesday at the SKICC is the day of the tourist conference. The inauguration is expected to be attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Jitendra Singh, and Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy.
