Yuvraj Singh, the ICC Ambassador, propelled the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Trophy Tour into high gear during the Miami Grand Prix, parading the coveted silverware that 20 international teams will compete for between June 1-29 in the West Indies and the USA.
The collaboration with Formula One elevated the Trophy Tour’s second leg in the USA, with the Trophy showcased alongside prestigious trophies like the NBA’s Larry O’Brien Trophy and the Miami Grand Prix Trophy, as per an ICC media release.
Initially launched with Chris Gayle and Ali Khan illuminating New York’s Empire State Building, the Trophy Tour has now reached Florida. Spending two days (May 6-7) in Broward County, it aims to build anticipation for the four T20 World Cup fixtures scheduled at Broward County Stadium, including the USA’s match against Ireland on June 14.
Following Florida, the Trophy will journey to Washington DC (May 9), then Toronto (May 10-11) to celebrate Canada’s maiden qualification for the T20 World Cup. It will be featured at a cricket-themed Major League Baseball game hosted by the Toronto Blue Jays against the Minnesota Twins on May 10.
The Trophy Tour will culminate in the Caribbean host islands of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana, with each hosting public celebration parades to welcome the T20 cricket’s most coveted global prize.
Finally, the Men’s T20 World Cup Trophy will return to the United States for the inaugural match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 between USA and Canada at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas on June 1.
