Happy Life Yoga founder Tirlok Malik hosted an interactive session on June 22 to celebrate the International Day of Yoga 2024. The event featured elements from his workshop and included speaker comments sharing their personal happiness mantras.
Malik, an Emmy-nominated filmmaker, emphasized the importance of self-love. He said, “If you love yourself, it is your responsibility to take care of your happiness and health.” He led practical exercises and chair yoga, infused with moments of laughter.
Over 50 participants joined the online event from New York and other parts of the world.
Consul General of India in New York, Amb. Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, highlighted in his video address that yoga is a holistic system for the body, mind, and spirit. The event collaborated with GOPIO – Manhattan, The Indian Panorama, and the Indian American Forum as partners.
In his fourth consecutive year organizing the International Day of Yoga event, Malik posed a query to the speakers: “Life presents challenges and difficulties, but how do you release them and find joy in life?”
Indu Jaiswal, Chairperson of the Indian American Forum, shared her mantra: “Always have a positive outlook and believe in yourself.”
Prof. Indrajit S. Saluja, Editor-Publisher of The Indian Panorama, emphasized that happiness lies within oneself.
Tara Shajan, a medical professional, suggested revisiting happy childhood memories and lowering one’s happiness threshold.
Neeta Bhasin, the founder of Times Square Diwali, mentioned that she has discovered the importance of prioritizing her own happiness.
Neha Lohia, a filmmaker and spiritual enthusiast, advised taking whatever happens as ‘prasad’ from God.
Parveen Chopra, founder of the wellness and spirituality webmag ALotusInTheMud.com, referenced the Patanjali sutra ‘Heyam dukham anagatam’ which means to avert the danger that has not yet come. He recommended regular exercise, yoga, and meditation to maintain physical and mental health.
Lal Motwani, GOPIO International President, advised never to say you are old, poor, or in need of help.
‘Vegan ambassador’ Anil Narang noted that since becoming vegetarian years ago, he has remained healthy and medicine-free.
TV personality Dr. Renee Mehra pointed out that while we cannot control events, we can control our reactions to them. She also led a short meditation.

Tirlok Malik has conducted over 100 Happy Life Yoga workshops in the past four years. His workshops, inspired by Ayurveda, yoga, and Indian philosophy, offer a practical approach to living a happier and healthier life in today’s challenging times.
