As India marked its 77th Republic Day on Monday, nations and diplomatic missions from across the globe extended their heartfelt greetings, recognizing the significance of the occasion. The celebrations commemorate the adoption of India’s Constitution in 1950, marking the country’s transformation into a sovereign, democratic republic guided by principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, shared his excitement at witnessing the Republic Day Parade for the first time. “Happy Republic Day, India! Honoured to attend the Parade, celebrating India’s Constitution and democratic spirit. Thrilled to see US-made aircraft soar in the Indian skies, symbolizing the strength of the US-India strategic partnership,” Gor posted on X.
Japanese Ambassador to India, Ono Keiichi, also conveyed his warm wishes. “Warm greetings on India’s 77th Republic Day. Looking forward to joining the celebrations, following the At-Home invitation from the Hon’ble President of India — a reminder of India’s rich and diverse culture,” he wrote on X.
Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, shared a video featuring officials of the Australian mission extending greetings in local languages such as Hindi, Bengali, and Marathi. “26 January – one date, two national celebrations – Australia Day and Republic Day. Happy Republic Day, India! As a celebration of India’s rich diversity, colleagues across our missions thought to share greetings in local languages,” he posted on X.
Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended its congratulations to the Indian people and government, stating, “Best wishes and sincere greetings from the people and Government of Sri Lanka on the happy occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day.”
Finland’s Embassy in India also shared a celebratory video, with officials sending warm greetings to all Indians. “We wish our friends, partners, and the people of India a very happy Republic Day! Warm wishes from all of us at Finland In India,” the embassy posted on X.
