WION, India’s sole international news channel, recently announced the debut of its new show, WORLD DNA, in an effort to broaden its audience and viewership in the American market.
Hem Kaur Saroya and Rohit Wellington will serve as the show’s hosts on the newscast that will compile the most important stories from across the world into a single program. The show, which airs live every night at 10 p.m. EST, strives to teach American and Asian viewers about events that will affect their present and set the stage for the future.
Chief business officer of WION, Madhu Soman, said, “With World DNA, we want to dig a bit deeper and help us and our audience understand what connects us and brings many together while driving a few others apart. The show’s twin-anchor format from our editorial epicenter in Delhi NCR, with inputs from our bureaus around the world and sectoral updates, will not only capture what happened overnight in Europe and the US but also set the agenda for Asia.”
Marketing head Anindya Khare said, “The changing market demand in terms of content consumption and revenue-generating opportunities have been assessed on a timely basis. This has helped our team brainstorm, plan communication, and market our strategies for the U.S. and Indian markets as well. Through live news broadcasts and customized programming, we look forward to achieving maximum stakeholder engagement”.
WION is an English-language worldwide news organization that covers more than 190 nations and specializes in reporting news from an Indian perspective. With over 7 million subscribers, the channel’s YouTube site continues to do better than many Indian English news channels in terms of monthly visits.
